how to install a new msi card from ubuntu

after put a new graphic card in a pci slot
and try to turn on pc, the monitor seems
does not recive any señal from card. Curiosly
it happen also with the onboard old graphic
card that I was using. I need to remove the
newer graphic card in order to recover functionality
of the older? can be or need it to be setted form Bios?

Please, if something can give an advice it is truly
appreciatted

If you are not seeing anything at all, even nothing at the POST screen (the one that comes up first when you start the computer) then the problem might be out of the scope of Ubuntu.
You should check the BIOS settings if it is possible to deactivate the built-in graphics chip. Also it might be a good idea to look for BIOS updates. If that still down not give you any screen output, you should consider the fact, that the card might be malfunctioning.

In the case that you can see the startup process and just the desktop environment is not loading or not visible, please provide as with more details of the card. The best help for us would be the manufacturer (for example: ATI, AMD, nVidia) and type of the graphics chip on the card. If you don't have that, give as the exact model name of the card!
