Amd Phenom2

Well, since it is not my own computer but that of a guy i just met it might be not significant but.....
i guess there is some trouble because he is using a Ubuntu 64bit system.
Since AMD processors are configured for 64 bit it might be worth to take a look.

He told me that his 64bit system works slower with Ubuntu than win.
Since 2 or more processors are not new to Linux it might be a simple thing like 0 should be 1 but...
never ask me!
Though, since i cannot imagine a slow motion AMD with a Unix or Linux system on, i might just ask what is the difference between both systems and win.

My Laptop got shot by Lightning....
 i am still upset!
.....and i had Lubuntu with a twin AMD processor on it.

only cooling and the video card had some trouble
Cooling was bad because it started too slow to be effective
Video...... forget it
it worked or consumed too much CPU
processor......cpu.....0.....1....win....VIDEO CARD and PROCESSOR.....linux.......

any clues???

Te speed of the OS is entirely dependant on config. 64bit is not outright slower on Ubuntu than WIndows. Sounds like someone spreading FUD.

Can you give the output of:

sudo lshw -C display

Since this guy did not give me any specific data or access to his computer i can only guess that it is like you said irelevant.

Since i use 64bit (l)ubuntu whithout any trouble i would guess he might have a slow video card with the wrong driver and a cube.

So, i would say problem solved!!!
