low-graphics mode

I have Precise installed in my Lenovo T61
Product ID: 7663 11U

I can't access the OS Precise Pangolin.
I get a box "the system is running in low-graphics mode ...your screen, graphic card and inpute device settings could not ...etc"

I have a log at /var/log/failsafeX-backup-121117171916.tar but I don't know where to send it.

try the boot option:

nomodeset

Well how do I do that?
I see no options when booting is running till I get the dialog boxes.

I have Oneiric in a CD ...but I have Precise installed because I upgraded from the first ...Can you tell what to edit to get nomodeset working from the Oneiric CD please?

I can't even access the F6 boot menu at Precise booting!!!!!
