Recent updates within ubuntu 11 leads to problems with the screen

Asked by Paul Palmer

I logged in. I was prompted to restart the machine to complete the routine updates within V11. I am now faced with a screen with vertical lines that move about as I move the mouse. I suspect this is associated with the screen parameters but I don't know how to a) confirm the problem and b) fix the problem.

Any help gratefully appreciated.

Thanks, Paul

Hi ,

please open a terminal (Ctrl+Alt+t) and give here the results of bellow commands

1. cat /etc/lsb-release

2. uname -r

3. lspci -nnk | grep -iA2 vga

you can copy and paste from here in to terminal the above commands , one at time. Press Enter for the results and the copy-paste the results back here.

I've spent the last couple of hours with our IT and after trying a variety of things we decided to update the version via the command line accessible from another computer. Upgrading to v12.04 fixed the problem.

Thanks. I will close the call. Paul
