ubuntu switchable Intel/ATI video

Asked by teddyv

Hi there,
I am running Ubuntu 12.04 on an Acer Aspire 7745g which has dual switchable video card: an Intel and a ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650.
How can I configure the system (if possible) in order to take advange of this? Curently, I can use only one at a time (the other one has to be disabled from Bios)...
Thank you,
Teddy

Its either very had or impossible. This may help but I doubt you will get a lot of joy with this

If possible, turn off one video chip and just use one.

Hi ,

try to install the proprietary driver with bellow command in terminal (open the terminal with ctrl+alt+t combo keys)

sudo apt-get install fglrx fglrx-amdcccle

Then reboot your Pc and hopefully you will be able to choose to load or not the ATI graphics card from the menu of Catalyst Control Center.

Thanks
