ubuntu not loading getting a message

i got an error when installing updates, then i restarted my computer and now i get the message it could not write bytes: broken pipe plymouthd:278 warning command line dbus-launch autolaunch autolaunch then a buch of #'s and letters then binary syntex clos=stderr exited with non zero exit status 1 auto launch error: xll initialization failed. ln l

sudo apt-get update; lsb_release -a

where can i get that info? this is what im getting when i logon . i hit f1
then it chooses ubuntu 11.10 then i get the error message. my pc is
partioned with windows xp which is not working. please help

Paste the command into the terminal and hit ENTER
