Cursor goes uncontrolably berserk!

Asked by Charles H Small

I have re-installed Ubuntu 12.4 and run a virus check. But this problem persists: My PS/2 mouse's cursor continually goes berzerk. It zaps all around the screen, clicking on things and creating folders. There is nothing I can do to stop it. After a while, I sometimes regain control of the cursor. Other times I have to restart. I have a dual-boot system and I do not see this behavior in Windows Vista.

Please login to guest session and unity-2d in order to test the behaviour there.
Also test adjustment of mouse behaviour in system-settings -> mouse.
Research bug reports by click on 'Bugs' on top of this page and query hw specs.
