After i get passed the loading screen it goes to a black page with yellow dots

So I am relatively new to Ubuntu and I installed it made it through the installing and restarting but once it goes to the loading screen after that I get a black screen with yellow dots on the screen towards the bottom of the screen and it wont go passed this
I am running a ASUS laptop with a Intel core 2 processor if that helps at all

Switchable graphics nonsense causes all manner of headaches in Linux, it is best avoided.
