What Windows does is of near zero value, it is a completely different OS with completely different support.

Does the system have a make and model?
What video chip do you use?
Are you connecting it to a laptop?

Details....

I apologize about the lack of information. I am using a Acer Aspire 7560-sb416 with an AMD A6 APU. I have it hooked up to a HDMI cable to the Playstation 3D TV. I realized that it works when I shut off the laptop display, but it doesn't when I have it on. I am using Ubuntu 12.04 with all the latest updates.

Thanks for the assistance actionparsnip. It took a while to get back to this, but the problem wasn't Ubuntu it was Sony's cheap idea of a Playstation TV. It was a bad buy on my part.
