terminal not accessable plus the screen blank

They do, but theu do not work to access terminal, have tried evertyhing I could with a blank screen, I was hoping someone would help me here but in vain, i am asked only questions.. xxxx

What do you mean by precise live CD?

ubuntu 11.10, upgrated and then the screen became blank, initially could access terminal and then the was menu but once I used to shut it down and then on it was blank again and finally, cannnot access terminal.
