Eee PC 1001HA Netbook screen blank or flickering

Asked by ahambidge

Hello,

I have just installed the 11.10 upgrade and also the gnome-session-fallback. I am using the Ubuntu Classic with no screen effects. On logging in the screen is either blank (black) or flickers. After a degree of patience I can get it to work (moving the mouse around).

I am writing this from the Netbook with the screen flashing now and again.

It does not appear to be a hardware problem.

Regards,

Allan :)

I have the same problem with my toshiba netbook. it's apparently a bug with the video driver. on my lenovo laptop, the characters are randomly broken. everything works fine with 10.04. seeing that 11.10 is just a transition version, you might want to switch back to ver 10.04 or log a bug.

Could do both, instead of lucid you could use Natty (11.04)

Hello,

I have upgraded the BIOS and all appears to be back to normal. I do not want to reverse an upgrade and am very pleased with 11.10 in Classic Mode. Unity (No Comment)

Regards and Thanks,

Allan :)

BIOS updates are quite important in netbooks. Glad you got the gold
