AOC Monitor resolution messed up after upgrade

Asked by KushalSharma

Hi, I removed my existing Maverick installation off my laptop and did a clean install of Oneiric on it. I have this AOC monitor with a recommended default resolution of 1360x768. However, my existing system doesn't show me that option at all. The highest I see is 1024x768. As far as my understanding goes, this was a problem with Natty as well, and it doesn't seem to have fixed.

Here's my xrandr output:

kushal@kushal-laptop:~$ xrandr
Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1280 x 800, maximum 4096 x 4096
LVDS1 connected 1280x800+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 331mm x 207mm
   1280x800 60.0*+
   1024x768 60.0
   800x600 60.3 56.2
   640x480 59.9
VGA1 connected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
   1024x768 60.0
   800x600 60.3 56.2
   848x480 60.0
   640x480 59.9
TV1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)

Could someone please help me fix this issue? I hate working on the tiny laptop screen, and for now I'm forced to do it.

Any help is much appreciated.

Best

Kushal

It's been ten days since I asked that question and still no reply. Does no one know the answer or are they busy answering other, probably more important questions?

I know of some tutorials online that can help me manually enter the settings in xrandr and then get the resolution right, but I'm wondering if there's a way I could get Oneiric to just "get" the right resolution for the extra monitor the way Maverick did for me.

It's frustrating when something that just works perfectly is taken and broken down when I do an "upgrade," which is supposed to make things better...

I ended up doing it manually. Here's the link from where I found the instructions: http://www.ubuntugeek.com/how-change-display-resolution-settings-using-xrandr.html
