Ubuntu 11.04 doesn show anything after it loads

after the menu that lets you chose between windows 7 and ubuntu, after you load ubuntu the Screen turns black and it doesnt show the start up menu in which you put your user name and password
is there anything bad with the commands or any file?
what do i do!!!

The thing that makes the image on the screen, the video chip. Nvidia and Ati are examples of this altough cheap netbooks will use Intel video chips.

Yeah though it was going to be some Intel rubbish, ok add the boot option:

nomodeset

and it may help

hey but it was working fine thou
it worked for like a month and then after the menu that lets you choose what version of ubuntu do you want nothing happens
it used to appear my username and i just had to put my password...
and
where do i ad that boot option??

ok i found something but im not sure if it helps
(30)Read-only file system: apache2: could not open error log file /var/log/apache2/error/log.
unable to open logs
action 'start' failed.
the apache error log may have more information.
