change monitor resolution from 800x600 to 1680x1050 which is not in the menu

use Ubuntu 11.04
Monitor: LG FLATRON L1718S
Maximum resolution in the menu is 800X600
I want to change it to 1680x1050
How?
Please help

You will probably need to enable any proprietary video drivers to get that resolution. Under the classic menu select System/Administration/Additional Drivers and see if any video drivers are offered. Select the latest one if multiples are offered (or the current one). The new drivers should download, and new resolution control programs using the new drivers should then appear in the System menus. You can look at the /var/log/Xorg.log to see what driver you are currently using and what modes have been examined (and reasons for discarding). The default Vesa driver does not typically have the highest resolution possible for the monitor.

Bad luck here, System/Administration/Additional Drivers dpnt have anything in that.
My mother board is foxconn 45CMX, VGA onboard
I think, I have to live with win7 till i buy new machien
