screen display is scewed to the left.

Asked by Bruce Newman

The screen is about 5% off center with a black stripe to the right and the left side partly out of sight.
What do I need to do to correct this?
I'm new to Linux.
Thanks for any help.
Regards, Bruce.

Is it a laptop? If so, try to correct Video settings.
If it's a normal monitor on a Desktop PC, try to set the geometry.
If your monitor supports it, try to ask it to perform an "autoset"

Sometimes installing the right Graphic Driver or choosing the correct Refresh Rate sets this problem straight. Have you tried both?

Thanks Stefano,
It's a flat screen on my desktop pc.
Dumb question, how do I "set the geometry" and how do I ask it to perform an "autoset"?
As I said I'm new to Linux, very new.

Ok, so perhaps we are getting there...
The monitor should have some buttons on a side (or on the back) and there should be a menu.
It's not a Linux issue, just a monitor one.
You should get into this menu and perform an "Auto set" or get into a menu from which you can "move" the image on the screen.
At that point you'll be able to put it into the proper place.
Hope it helps, keep me informed
