After login xserver-xorg-core crashes on Ubuntu 16.04

Asked by Thyme Wisper

Booting up my laptop which is Ubuntu 16.04 and then after logging in, I get a pop up message that there is a system problem and then another popup stating a program error. Has been happening during past week - so suspect problem from an update. When click on details, the first pop-up refers to a aport url. When click on details for second pop-up, the information given is xserver-xorg-core. I tried reporting, but looks like from the log it has only been reported once. However it is a consistent error for when I first boot up, which is daily since I am off grid and turn everything off every night. When I shut down and restart, most time I don't receive those two pop-ups again. Since I always keep restarting to make sure no errors, I have not noted any problems to other programs. But it is annoying since I limit my computer time to when I have daylight and this subtracts from my period of opportunity to use the computer.

Not sure what this xserver-xorg-core does, so did not want to just uninstall it, considering that the first error message states a SYSTEM problem.

If it is an update problem, is it possible for me to go to an earlier version? If so, could you give me the script I would use in the terminal? Or is it just safe to uninstall it from the terminal?

Thanks in advance...

Hello Thyme, would you post the exact error message, please? Without such one its rather difficult to provide you with a definite answer. Thanks!
