Lucid Lynx 64bits problem with ATI Radeon HD 4500 video card

Asked by Basico

I upgraded to Lucid Lynx 64 bits since beta1 (full install-no dual boot). My laptop is a Sony Vaio VGN-NW21SF Core Duo(TM) P7450 2.13 GHz. The video card is an ATI Radeon HD 4500 Series. After each boot It gives me a strange error, instead of the mouse pointer I see a cross and the graphics are no totally correct. I change the Visual Effects from none to normal and the problem disappears. The problem reoccurs after each boot and the Visual Effects are set automatically to none. I tried to solve the problem by uninstalling the ATI/AMD FGLRX proprietary driver, but I see no big difference.

Problem solved. The bug is related to Ubuntu one. I had desinstall U1 because it was not sychronizing the files and I had the above problem. Problem solved when re-installed U1. U1 now gives me an error but it's ok I can live without clouds.
