Where are xfce4-volumed logs?

Asked by anatoly techtonik

Where should I check to see if xfce4-volumed reported any errors? My volume up button doesn't work and I want to see if there is something that bothers daemon.

If you run:

xev

Then press the misbehaving button, does it make events?

OK so it's sending events, does it also change the volume?

If you go into keyboard settings and find the volume modifiers, can you set the key to the button press?

Setting manager doesn't start anymore, but it did few hours ago. Trying to find the name of the binary in menu entry.

There is no volume shortcuts assigned in Keyboard section of xfce4-settings-manager. Only applications shortcuts there.

After reboot up volume key started to work, but now it is again malfunctioning. So the question is still the same - where can I see if xfce4-volumed reported any problems?

Looks like there was a conflict between Chrome and Firefox. If I understand it correctly, if somebody is directly claim ALSA interface directly, then other programs, including the system applet for volume control, won't be able to change the volume.
