Wacom Bamboo Connect Ubuntu 12.04 Installation

Asked by Ahmad Abdulkawi

Elo,

I've downloaded Ubuntu 12.04 LTS a week ago. I never used Linux before, this is amazing! Anyway, I have a Wacom Bamboo Connect tablet. I've gone through several pages and solutions about the problem, but No. 1: i don't understand how to do some of the technical bits, because i never had to deal with commands and stuff (yes, i know), and No. 2: i don't think it actually applies to my case.

The Ubuntu 12 comes with a Wacom Graphic Tablet utility found in the system settings. I have so far installed the Synaptic Package Manager, and looked for all relevant pacakges and installed them. Still, the Wacom utility doesn't see the tablet at all.

I hope you can help me with this, thank you.

Elo, thank you again for your help. I've gone through the links you gave me, which in turn led me to other places. I must say, it's such a hassle!

I have an older Genius tablet, which is of course not as good as my Wacom, but I plugged it in and it was good to go. I'm using it as we speak. Which kind of demotivated me to go through all of those steps and fiddling with command lines i'm new to.

I think, I'll just wait till the good people at Ubuntu upgrade the Kernel!!!

Thanks again!
