Where are the -pae packages items for xen 3.1?

Asked by Cory Albrecht

The Xen 3.0 packages all had -pae versions (i.e. xen-hypervisor-3.0-pae) yet I can find no such version for the xen 3.1 packages. The description for xen-hypervisor-3.1 encludes the following text:

"This version of the hypervisor is built with support for systems with up to
4GB of memory. If you have more please install the -pae version instead."

I'm new to Xen, but as I understand it, one needs the PAE version to run unmodified guest systems like Windows in a Xen virtual machine.

Where'd the PAE stuff disappear to in Ubuntu?

To my knowledge, pae support in xen-3.1 is automatically enabled on i386 and lpia architectures.
Non-pae versions have been removed since 3.1.0-0ubuntu7.

This:

"This version of the hypervisor is built with support for systems with up to
4GB of memory. If you have more please install the -pae version instead."

is most probably an obsolete text which needs to be modified. You may open a bug to request it (you can use the Create bug report option from the Actions menu to the left).

Can you help with this problem?
