Text-input cursor doesnt show up...

Asked by DarkED

Hi, I have the xchat package that you download with apt-get in Dapper/6.06.

Everything works fine except for when you type text. The little 'blinking' text-input cursor that shows you where you are typing doesn't show up. Not sure if its a bug or just a setting, but its pretty annoying, and doesnt happen in any other programs that I've seen so far. I'm running the KDE you would get with apt-get install kubuntu-desktop on a fresh Dapper 6.06 install (KDE 3.5.2)

Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Hello,

This is not the best answer for your question, I would like to make just a few suggestions :)).
If you have Ubuntu Dapper Drake then ubuntu includes xchat-gnome so that should work, (personally I don't like x-chat because the nick name bar is in a strange position:)
If you have Kubuntu Dapper Drake installed (KDE) then you have a beautiful program called Konversation which in my opinion it is the best IRC client on Unix, so whether you use Ubuntu or Kubuntu just switch from x-chat to Konversation :) via Synaptic or via sudo apt-get install konversation in terminal.

If you don't want to bother with Konversation and you want to use x-chat then write ask people on #ubuntu or make a BUG report to x-chat developers here http://www.xchat.org/cvs/.

Ok, but still, I honestly don't think this is a bug. I need X-Chat because I have some monitoring scripts.

Thanks for your reply :D
