reload logs in xchat-gnome

Asked by Mark Howard

Is there any plugin or hidden functionality in xchat-gnome to get it to load all log files when you start up. So I can switch the pc off overnight and still see the previous day's conversations on the next day when it reconnects?

But xchat logs on your local machine, if you turn it off there will be no logs to pre-load.

The way I connect to irc is to use irssi (a command line client) running under "screen" on a remote "always on" server. That way I can turn my computer off, then when I wake I ssh to the machine and reconnect to screen and see all the conversations that happened when I wasn't there.

This is a very popular way to stay "on" irc when you're not at a machine.

In the xchat site there is a script that loads and show the last log when you open a window. I don't know if it works with xchat-gnome, but you can try.

The name is "zelastlog" and it's at http://xchat.org/cgi-bin/search.pl?str=log&cat=0&Submit=Search
