when XChat is open
Click on settings then preferences then select Logging then there are boxes that you can uncheck

i have preferences under edit. When i go there i have a few options, one is log conversations which i had un-checked. Its still logging conversations , even general channel stuff. Where is all this stored? how can i find it on my note book? thanks.

Open a terminal or file browser, go to ~/.xchat2/xchatlogs/ and delete all the .log files stored there.

If it still logs after the checkbox in preferences is unchecked and these files are deleted then this should be filed as a bug.

Okay where I have these logs stored Keep in mind I'm using Ubuntu 8.10.

Go to your home folder, example here on my PC is /home/tokeman/.xchat2/scrollback

You might have to in the home folder when you open it is click on View then check the box that says "Show Hidden Files" to see the .xchat2 folder.

fastest way to get to home folder is click on "Places" on the menu bar

I'm going to have to make a website with screen shots for some of this stuff I think.
