How do I compress an avi file in ubuntu?

Asked by cr125f150ba

I tried putting an ati file thats 950 MB big on to a usb drive that says it has enough space for it. But I try to put the file on the usb drive and it errors out. So I thought if I compress the file and then put it on the usb drive it might work. But I don't know how to compress it.

Help

Thx

right click on the file and select "Create Archive"

there you go

PS if you meant AVI filetype they dont compress very well because they are already compressed. you might want to consider splitting the archive into multiple parts to transfer them.

I think splitting it is also possible through "Create Archive" option on the right-click. You may not have that option on your right-click in which case let us know and we'll help you get it :)

Good luck and regards from
Tom :)
