Wireless problem with Kubuntu Fiesty on inspiron 1300 lappy

Asked by botbotdingzip

I have a problem with my onboard intel wireless card in an inspiron 1300 lappy. The little green light that indicates whether the wireless is operational does not work from a fresh install of Kubuntu Fiesty. It's a dual boot lappy and it works just fine from XP. Not sure what to do.

Seems to be an onboard intel wireless. Not sure why the wireless light just won't show up.
A work around was to use "iwlist" from the console. If "txpower" is on then obviously the wireless is turned on.
Any help appreciated.
