Problems with Steam, .NET, Dungeon Defenders

Asked by E. Kozik

I had Steam working fine for Civ V, but attempted to install and play Dungeon Defenders. Apparently, the installation went fine, but every time I attempt to play, it automatically attempts to install .NET 3.5, which inevitably fails. My errors have ranged from sha1sum mismatch to CLR error 80004005. The terminal and general format of Ubuntu does not come naturally to me, so it has been an uphill battle trying to figure out what is wrong. It's pretty frustrating, but if someone is willing to sit and help me work through these errors, I would really appreciate it.

Side note- I foolishly cleared my Winetricks from my computer, and now nothing on Steam works. So, rebuilding the entire thing might be a good place to start...

I suggest you report a bug. Steam is still beta

Steam through Wine is beta? I was under the assumption that Linux-specific Steam was beta, but you could run standard steam fairly well using Wine.

Steam now has a native support for Ubuntu 12.04 and 12.10.

You use Steam through wine , so you can ask your question (or search for answers) here:

or here:

I don't know a solution , maybe if you try to install NET 3.5 again ?

Be patient and hopefully lot of Windows titles , will come in Steam for Linux.

Thank you.
