If you are using Ubuntu, you have Transmission bittorrent that is installed by default under the menu Applications > Internet

Just download your torrent file then open it with Transmission bittorrent.

I don't suggest you to install uTorrent in Ubuntu is an app for Windows ubuntu has already installed a torrent client Transmission but there are many others http://blog.shevin.info/2007/06/all-ubuntu-torrent-clients-overview.html

But if you are forced to run wine app on Ubuntu here an howto install uTorrent using wine:
