trying to use Government document viewer to open .xfdl file in Ubuntu

Asked by slyone

I recently used wine to download a .exe file that gives me something called "Agile Viewer/Pure Edge", a DOD fillable form viewer. The fillable forms are a .xfdl file. I was able to successfully use wine for the .exe file, however I still cannot open any of the forms.

Heres how it goes:

First I go to the USAPA website. I save a .xfdl form that I need.

Next, I use wine open the Pure Edge viewer.

Next I try to open the .xfdl file that I previously saved. The entire program closes at this point.

I am wondering if anyone else has successfully used the agile viewer/pure edge or if there is any other way to open a .xfdl file?

Thanks

Never tried but have you already tried acroread for linux to open .xfdl files you can install acroread for Ubuntu from repository...

Might be this can help http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=880243

Step one:
Install wine

Step two:
Go to configure wine. Click the libraries tab. Add "riched20.dll" as native.

Step 3:
Install PureEdge viewer, I haven't got the newer Lotus Forms working yet.

You have to open the viewer first then click open and open the file you would like to edit.

To open a document on a thumb-drive or cd, goto my computer, then Z:, then media.

Hope this helps
