How do I install World of Warcraft on my system?

Asked by Asheguy

I have downloaded Wine and I am following the instructions to dismount and remount the cdrom but I am still rolling snake eyes everytime. I am very new to this OS like I just installed it last week so any help will be greatly welcomed.

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SwitchingToUbuntu/FromWindows

might help as a look-up guide. Also work through all the steps in
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Medibuntu
to sort out almost all your multimedia and then use the Wine Applications Database to look-up WoW
http://appdb.winehq.org/
The forums there need a lot of help so if you have made some headway with WoW then you might be able to write it up in the Apps Database to help other people. It helps when people say which version of Wine, especially if it's the latest version. Wine often suffers from regressions so it's always a relief to know when something works. Also sometimes it takes a lot of special tricks to get something working so if you have found a more elegant way then people really appreciate being told (even if they don't say thanks ;) )

Err, if you like WoW then you might like the native linux games "Wesnoth" and "Glest" although they don't generally play as online games but Glest is beautiful and slightly spooky where Wesnoth has some great fun campaigns. Both are quite different from WoW but well worth exploring because of their differences, if you like that sort of world (which i do)

Good luck and regards from
Tom :)
