using wine to open windows programs

I have wine installed and when I open a windows program it doesn't connect to the internet. The program is winmx 3.53 , I must be doing something wrong. Any help will be appreciated. You can dl the program from www.vladd44.com it is a p2p network for file sharing and chat. Thanks a lot everyone.

Seems compatible with some functionality not working. Make sure you use the wine version from the wine repos:
http://www.winehq.org/download/deb
