Binary package hint: wine

hello everyone I am very new to Ubuntu and am not sure how everything works yet. I recently gave microsoft the big middle finger and installed Ubuntu 9.04 because of problems with Windows XP. I now want to install some things that i had on windows, like PokerStars. I have followed the forum pages on what to do but am still not doing something right. Igo through the process and downloaded Wine, but when i try to install PokerStars i get this message

desktop:~$ wine PokerStarsInstall.exe
err:alsa:ALSA_CheckSetVolume Could not find 'PCM Playback Volume' element
err:alsa:ALSA_CheckSetVolume Could not find 'PCM Playback Volume' element
fixme:mixer:ALSA_MixerInit No master control found on Ensoniq AudioPCI, disabling mixer
Could not load Mozilla. HTML rendering will be disabled.
wine: configuration in '/home/john/.wine' has been updated.
wine: could not load L"C:\\windows\\system32\\PokerStarsInstall.exe": Module not found

Everything works great up until this point. Can anyone help?

Hello,

According to http://appdb.winehq.org/appview.php?iVersionId=2899, it should work well. May you please tell us where you downloaded the application from, and which wine version you're using ? I'd like to try it on my own side, to check if it works.

Cordially, SD.

wine: could not load L"C:\\windows\\system32\\PokerStarsInstall.exe": Module not found

This means you typed something like "wine PokerStarsInstall.exe" into a terminal when the PokerStarsInstall.exe file was not in the same directory. Wine then looked for that program in its system folder, didn't find it, gave up, and quit.

What you should be doing is just navigating to the Poker Stars Installer file, right click it, and hit open with Wine.
