how to install wine

i download wine on my laptop which has windows vista . can i put the application on my memory stick and install it on my pc that has ubuntu 8.10 and how do i install it on my pc that has ubuntu . i am new to ubuntu so please give me detailed instructions .thank you very much from yasin

It's very simple. In Ubuntu. activate Synaptic. Search for "wine" and install it. That's it.

peter thanks but i tried that and it did not work because i could not find wine in the synaptic search .is there another way to do it .
