No sound in WINE

Asked by Greg Sanchez

Im running Jaunty Alpha 6 64-bit on a brand new computer with no pre-installed OS. (built)
I have WINE 1.1.17 but there is absolutely no sound in any of the programs. Also, when i try to test sound in the WINE config it doesn't give me an error, but there is no sound. On a related note, there is also no sound in Ubuntu itself. When i watch videos on youtube or the like there is sound, but when i try to test it in sound preferences (everything set to alsa) there is no sound either.

Any help would be appreciated.

You should make a bug report, then, since it's a bug with a non-stable version of Ubuntu.

Though... what version of Flash do you have ? Normally flashplugin-nonfree should be ok with Pulseaudio (since Intrepid). About Wine, i don't think it supports Pulseaudio at all, but you should set the sound to OSS in winecfg, and use "padsp wine <appname.exe>" to launch apps (you can edit your menu links and add padsp in front of them, too).
