Installing The Sims 2 on Ubuntu 8.04

Asked by photojunki91

I recently purchased the computer game "The Sims 2", but when I inserted it in the cd-rom drive it didn't install. How do I install it without a bunch of confussing tasks. I am new to Ubuntu, and am a previous Windows Vista user. Also how do I re-install Vista on my machine?

To run a Windows game under Linux requires you use a compatibility layer called wine.

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Wine

The above page gives you instructions on installation and configuration.

See Microsoft with any Windows Vista related questions. We are not a Windows support channel and cannot afford time to such a thing unless you were looking to run Windows alongside Ubuntu or in a virtual machine.

When I first recieved Ubuntu 8.04, I was running Windows Vista Home Premium. I had installed Ubuntu alongside Windows, but something happened and it stopped working, so I uninstalled it and reinstalled it but this time I acidentally partioned the drive. I want to run Ubuntu alongside Vista, Vista being my main OS. How do I do this? Do you know?
