running paltalk in wine

Asked by randyzlinux

i use a program for chat and webcam and text called paltalk on my windows xp computer. i installed wine then downloaded paltalk and it installed with no problem. i ran paltalk and it came up and allowed me to log on etc. everything worked like on my xp machine. here is my problem though, in paltalk you click on a catagory like music then it listes all the rooms in music like pop, jazz, country etc. so then you click on lets say pop it should show sub room under pop but this is where it does not work it just sits there and does not show the rooms under pop. so i can not go into a sub room. this is the only thing i see it will not do. since i can not go into the sub room lets say bob's karaoke room then i can not enter the room to join in on singing. is there anyone who knows how to get paltalk to work under wine? paltalk i not like other chat programs like yahoo or google, etc. i really need to get this to work. i am disabled and on a very low fixed income. my winxp disk is damaged and i can not afford to buy it again so i am switching to linux. i am on a very low disability income and have to do what i can afford. can anyone help me figure out how to make his work? paltalk is free you can get it at www.paltalk.com i really need this program because i am confined to my bed 80% of the time and it helps me pass the long hours of the day and night. and i have many friends on paltalk and i like to sing karaoke too. i do not want to loose all my friends or my singing. so if anyone can help me please let me know........ randy

I've filed bug http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11290
for the problem "can't join chat rooms". It looks like it
might be a while before it's fixed.

I haven't tried testing it with ies4linux yet, that seems like
it's worth a try if you have time.

Can you help with this problem?
