appdb ? It worked before in 11.10 . .

Maybe its known to not work under the release of Ubuntu you have.
If you make a new user and install there, is it ok?

This is 12.10 your latest one and with updates . . New User ? . . Never had that before . . maybe under User Groups and add me to a lot of the items on the list so the system will let me do things . . I am glad to see they put a Classic desk top in 12.10 . .
I re did the desktop folder with the contents of the Quicken CD added to it and made the permissions to read write andmade it ok to make it ok to use it as a executeable program

Hummm got another strange error this morning as I am slowly RE ADDING things that were removied by 12.10 the HPLIP said it could not detect a systen tray . . What does that mean as date, time, WiFi, audio volime. and battery are there . .

Your user can hold literally billions of users. If you run:

sudo adduser tester

Fill in the details and log off, then log in as the new user. Retry installing and using the app.
