How to stop a kernel updatefrom breaking my software license?

Asked by Christopher

I use a Windows program under Wine - 'mytaxexpress' to prepare and efile Canadian income tax returns. Every time there is a kernel update, my license is invalidated.

Is there anything I can do to prevent this from happening? It's annoying to have to pay and pay for the same licensed version.

You can pin the kernel so it doesn't update. I suggest you report a bug with wine too. Did you check the appdb for a possible fix to this issue?

Submitted to appdb. The software developers provided a new verifcation code that restored my license as it was supposed to be.
