When searching for "wine" in Ubuntu 10.04 LTS, shows message on package, "wine 1.2 not available on i386 architecture"

Asked by Jim Farley

Only thing is, when I had installed 10.04 LTS AMD64, it said the same thing! (not available for AMD64, that is) so what's the deal?

Try closing software centre and run:

sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get install wine

Should do it

it did... my next question is: why is the software manager unaware that wine plays nice with Ubuntu?
