creating the right way directories for wine to work

Asked by oros

for wine to see the network, I understand that I need to create a certain unc directory. I don't understand quite how or where, do I do this in terminal or through the home folder? And is this all that have to be done to get wine to see and access the network? Please assist me in this. Or is it possible to assist me via skype maybe? I really need a windows application that is installed in wine to access a specific folder/drive on a server on the network. I have managed to get the server to see and access my ubuntu 11.10 machine.

Normally I would just map my /media drive in wine.

Run winecfg, then drives, then add then create a mapped drive from say "M:" to /media/

then use nautilus to browse the remote share as per normal.

HOwever, wine normally does this by default - z: is mapped to /

So if you just open z:\media\ in your wine application, you should be able to access your mounts. To mount a network share to your linux filesystem, you can use smbmount

Can you help with this problem?
