e-Sword error on Ubuntu 11.04

Asked by William Pabon

I recently installed wine on my Ubuntu 11.04 laptop and then, downloaded the latest version of e-sword (ver. 10.0.5). After installation, when I run the program I get a message that it encountered an error and needed to close. Has anybody know about this? I run eSword version 9.6 on my Ubuntu 10.04 box without prblems. Thanks.

There are native e-bible apps in the repos. Seems to get a gold rating

Tested version 9.9.0
Requires "mfc42.dll" to be in the windows/system32 directory.
Requires to register vbscript.dll

Not much work but can work..

Thanks for answering. As I explained, version 9.6 works fine on my Ubuntu 10.04 box, after the addition of the dll you mentioned. I was expecting that doing the same thing on my laptop with Ubuntu 11.04 would make e-sword version 10.0 to work, but apparently, it didn't. I am expecting if there's anybody outhere that has a workaround or has a solution. I tried Xiphos (the one that is on the repos), but I don't like it.

I suggest you post on the wine forum too.

Apparently, there's no formal discussion on programs whose latest version don't seem to work. So, I removed version 10.0 and installed version 9.6. That solved my problem. Thanks anyway for your effort.
