No, you can't install an .exe in Ubuntu. Ubuntu isn't windows and windows programs won't run. Just like you can't run Linux programs in windows or windows programs in OSX.

That said, there is a tool called wine that will allow SOME windows programs to work in Ubuntu. However, unless there is real need, it's better to find out what the Ubuntu alternative to the program you want to use is and use that. Moving to a new OS also means learning how to use the tools available for that OS.

Go to the Terminal (Apps. > Accessories > Terminal) and type:

sudo apt-get install wine

After it installs, from the Terminal or launcher (Alt+F2), issue the command:

wine <location-and-filename>.exe
