Accessing programs on XP side and shutdown not working

Asked by Martin C. Fox

The logoff and shutdown do not work. I have to use the computer off button.
Ubuntu is installed along side XP. How do I access the programs that I have already purchased that are in the XP side?

windoze programs don't work on linux systems. you could install wine and trying running them off there.

google "ubuntu wine" for instructions.

how did you shut down your system? what happens when you try to do it? please provide more details.

Thanks for responding.

I touch the logoff or shutdown buttons and they act like they work but
nothing happens.

I looked up Unbuntu Wine but don't know how to find - Open the Software
Sources menu by going to *Applications->Ubuntu Software Center*, then
selecting *Edit->Software Sources*. Choose the *Other Software* tab and
click *Add*.

wine is available in the software center. just do a search for it and click install.

your power button is a separate issue. i suggest you start a new thread for that one. give details on which version of ubuntu you are using and the brand/model computer/laptop you have.

Can you help with this problem?
