I am trying to download the Audible Manager from Audible.co.uk ...

Asked by Noella White

I am trying to download the Audible Manager from Audible.co.uk so that I can listen to my audio books and also download them to my MP3 player. However after downloading I am unable to run the exe program - any suggestions or work arounds would be gladly appreciated.
Many thanks

What files do you have to play? There may be a native opensource app to play them

First, You have to install "wine". Here is how: http://www.winehq.org/download/ubuntu

Then Install the Audible Manager from here: http://www.audible.com/sw?pageFlowType=PC_WIZARD

Finally, when the .exe file is downloaded, Right-click on it -> Properties -> Permission. Mark the "Is executable" CheckBox.

By default it should open with wine, If not select wine from the "open with" menu.

I tested it, and it works well.

Many thanks for your message, since posting the question I've played
around with Ubintu and found Wine, which loads exe files, so I am
actually all sorted. Thanks again.
