If you want to install Microsoft Windows 2010 you will need Virtualbox or VMWare, not wine

is there such a thing as windoze 2010? or are you talking about office 2010? if it's office 2010, you can either use libreoffice (which is compatible with office), or look on the wine website to see how others may or may not have been able to install it.

if there is such a thing as windoze 2010, you can't run it in linux like you run an application.

Shoot. Sorry about that. Yes office 2010. Ha ha. Sorry. I have open office
but I bought it a while back and then I installed Linux on my laptop. I'm
kinda new to Linux. I'll check it out when I get home. Thanks.

There is a difference. I suggest you read:
http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=31

MS Office 2010 gets either bronze or garbage.

Even in crossover office it doesn't work:
http://www.codeweavers.com/compatibility/browse/name/?app_id=7437

The only way you will get this running is to install virtualbox, install windows to the virtualbox then install MS Office 2010 to that, you can then run virtualbox in seamless mode and run the apps. This is not a great solution as you will be running Windows as well as Ubuntu at the SAME TIME. This is a massive bloat. I suggest you divorce yourself from MS Office and switch to Libreoffice which works brilliantly, or dual boot. Dual booting will mean you run only ONE OS but is a bit of a faff to just run some office productivity suite when there is already an open solution available.

If the main use of the system is to use MS Office 2010 then I advise you simply use Windows (or dual boot). Ubuntu is not always the answer, no matter how loud the fanboys shout.

Wow. I read it after I sent it again. I have open office on my Linux now but
I recently bought office 2010 before I installed my Linux. So I don't want
it to go to waist.

If it hasn't been installed it should be returnable. Or you can sell it on ebay
