Running wubi.exe inside ubuntu under wine will not work. What other apps do you want to install?

why are you trying to run wubi under kubuntu? wubi is an installer program that installs ubuntu via windows.

which .exe files are you trying to install?

I see now. I think I misunderstood about wubi. Some of the other exe files I'd like to run include installation files for foobar2000, last.fm scrobbler, and some game installer. Thank you.

You can install Wine in the Software Center, and then run a Windows program with Wine by right-clicking on it and clicking "Wine Windows Program Loader". (Or you might have to expand an Open With menu first, which contains that menu item. And the menu item may be slightly different. I don't have a Kubuntu system available right now to check. But it should be easy to find--if you don't see it, please post a reply.) You can install a Windows program with Wine by running its installer, just as you would in Windows. For some programs, there is information available about whether or not they are likely to work with Wine and, if so, how well (or poorly)--see http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&sTitle=Browse%20Applications&sOrderBy=appName&bAscending=true.

However, before running a Windows program on Ubuntu, you should check to see if there are any programs for Ubuntu that will do the job. For games, there often are not (because one game cannot generally be replaced by another...though some game studios do release their games for Linux-based OS'es like Ubuntu...for example, all of idSoftware's releases have GNU/Linux versions). For other applications, there usually are good options.

For example, there is no reason to run the Windows version of Last.fm on Ubuntu, because Last.fm has a GNU/Linux version that looks and functions pretty much exactly the same way--just go to the Software Center and install the package called lastfm. As for foobar2000, that specific application is not available on Ubuntu, but there are some similar applications I'd encourage you to try, like audacious, amarok, clementine, exaile, banshee, and rhythmbox (those are the names of the packages you'd install to get those programs). Audacious is probably the most similar to foobar2000; the others are way less similar. Personally, I had no problem migrating from foobar2000 to Audacious (just remember to press J in Audacious when you'd press F in foobar2000).

If you do decide to (attempt to) run foobar2000 in Ubuntu with Wine, I suppose it's possible that you would need to use the Windows version of last.fm as well (since the Ubuntu version would not integrate with foobar2000). But if you must run foobar2000 on Ubuntu, then I'd recommend that you use the foobar2000-specific last.fm client plugin (see http://www.last.fm/group/foo_audioscrobbler and http://www.mp3tag.de/en/fb2k.html) rather than the fully-fledged Last.fm program. Then you can use the Ubuntu version of Last.fm itself.

MP3 tag isn't needed. There are plenty of NATIVE linux apps to tag MP3s.

@actionparsnip
I wasn't recommend mp3tag, or even saying anything about it. A different piece of software, foo_audioscrobbler, simply happens to be hosted at mp3tag.de.

Can you help with this problem?
