install .exe file in 11.4

i want to install max payne 2 in natty narwhal
i tried wine
 If you need to do this then right click on the file and under the file permissions select the box marked 'Allow executing the file as a program'. You will now be allowed to (try and) install the file as a program; unfortunately, this does not work
the checkbox toggles, but reverts back after an instant
suggest how to install .exe files

Did you do 'winecfg'?

According to this page max payne 2 is supposed to function with wine.
