Asked by Leslie DeBord

I am trying to install programs on ubuntu and evidentially I don't understand the procedure.I have always used windows until I received this small laptop as a gift. It would be nice to have a manual if at all possible.

.Exe is a Microsoft Windows file. Linux is not Windows. Windows is not Linux.

SOME Windows apps will work in Linux through the Linux app called Wine, BUT NOT ALL.

See e.g.

Exactly what files are you trying to install?

1) What is the full NAME of the program you have downloaded?

2) Where, approximately, in the World are you? E.g. US television is not easily accessible in the UK and visa versa. In the UK there is is possible to use for BBCiplayer, Zattoo, LiveStation, TV Catchup etc

televisionfanatic.exe is associated with malware. Google turned up this: http://www.prevx.com/filenames/950672658462978725-X1/TELEVISIONFANATIC.EXE.html

Because I am in the UK I can't easily advise you about watching TV in the US. Hulu? http://www.hulu.com/labs/hulu-desktop

A good place to look is at lifehacker.com...
