Launch applictaion installed in Windows Vista partition

Asked by Igor Ivanov

My hard drive has two partitions. One is for Windows Vista and another one for Ubunu 10.10.
I have Adobe Photoshop installed in "Program Files (x86 )" directory of Vista. Is it possible to launch Photoshop or other Windows application in Ubuntu, or I have to make a new installation in Wine or some

No as the installer will install files to the windows system folders as well as entries in the registry. You MAY be able to boot the installation with virtualbox and run the installed windows OS but it has been known to cause data loss.

You will need to install the app in wine anew, as long as it works ok then you will be able to use the app in Linux.

There are many NATIVE graphics apps in Linux which are free to use and will run cleaner and more stable than anything you can run in wine

Unless you are doing colour matching or HDR images, gimp is quite good. If you are doing HDR images,

Cinepaint can do HDR, but its not as cool as gimp.

Pantone colour, and simultaneous vector+raster is about the only thing that photoshop can do that gimp/cinepaint cant.
