Ubuntu 10.1 and programs written for Windows

Installed Ubuntu ver 10.1 on a laptop. Tried to install a educational disc written for Windows, no luck. Suggestions!

most windoze software won't run on linux systems such as ubuntu.

what type of education software is it? there's a lot of educational stuff on the distribution called edubuntu.

if it is special software, you want install wine and see if the software will run on that.

type in google "ubuntu wine" to find the procedure on how to install wine in ubuntu.

You can either use a virtual machine on which you installed XP, allowing you running simultaneously Linux and XP software, or you can install Wine packet, which implements Windows DLL.
