How to get Cisco NAC Agent on Ubuntu w/ Wine? I need it for WiFi at school!

Asked by Dan Spicer

At my highschool there is WiFi, but you need a program called Cisco NAC Agent to log on / off. I have used Wine before, (I just used it today to install Office 2007) and cannot get it working. I went to Windows and put the NAC Agent on my flash drive, booted to Ubuntu 10.10 and ran via Wine. The installation worked just fine and the icon for the Agent was on my desktop. Also, if I went to: Applications > Wine > Cisco, the program would be there. Whenever I open it, my bottom panel, which by default shows all running windows, said "Opening Cisco NAC Agent" but after about ten seconds, it closes! What can I do?! I need WiFi at school!

soooooooooo, the best thing to do is to have a chat with your computing services department to see what they suggest you do to make it work.

as this software/technology is proprietary, we can't really help you.

Can you help with this problem?
